NIGHT MOTHER
Written by Marsha Norman
Presented by Apple City Players and the Markay Cultural Arts Center.

About the Show
Night, Mother is a haunting two-character drama that unfolds in real time over the course of a single evening between a mother and her daughter. It is an unflinching exploration of connection, control, and the quiet ache of being unseen.

This production is presented as an experiment. A three-night event. Each performance features a different actor stepping into the role of Jessie without prior rehearsal together. The women performing this piece have worked individually, studying the text and character in isolation. The first and only time they experience the play together is in front of a live audience.
It’s a test of instinct, truth, and belief, a living demonstration of The Company Of’s philosophy: train meticulously so you can perform at the drop of a hat, and create a moment of shared belief powerful enough to change someones perspective.

About The Company Of
The Company Of is an experimental theatre collective founded by Julz Stewart.
We focus on creating actor-driven work that strips away excess and centers human belief. Our performers train technically and rigorously so they can perform at the drop of a hat — often in polarizing, uncomfortable works meant to spin humans off their axis and invite reflection.
We believe theatre is a sacred space. A place where, for a short time, a roomful of people believe in the same thing together. That belief can change people, even if it’s only for a moment.

Thank you for being part of this experiment.
